Governance Groups
Fermiscan product development and clinical research programs are overseen by its Scientific and Medical Advisory Board (SMAB) who also provide independent advice to the Board of Fermiscan.
Scientific & Medical Advisory Board (SMAB)
The Advisory Board provides professional oversight and advice on the advancement of the company's services to ensure they meet the requirements and expectations of the medical and patient communities. The composition of the SMAB represents key perspectives and inputs needed in our development programs from both scientists and medical specialists.
Specific roles for members of the Advisory Board include:

Collaborate with other members of the SMAB to develop methodologies and strategies for using the Fermiscan Test to ensure its use in clinical diagnostic settings is optimised to benefit patient outcomes. |

Advise Fermiscan's management on appropriate internal and external strategies for communicating scientific and clinical information about the Fermiscan Test to the medical community, government, and public. |

Develop concepts and protocols for clinical studies which conform to Good Clinical Practice and other international trial requirements. |

Define medical marketing approaches in alignment with best practice. |

Advise on publication of studies in peer-reviewed scientific journals. |

Assist with advising medical professionals, on how to appropriately interpret and use the Fermiscan Test as needed. |

Foster scientific and clinical information exchange between the medical community and Fermiscan. |
 |
Provide scientific and clinical support for regulatory and clinical guideline decision makers and national professional standards committees. |

Evaluate new technologies and opportunities. |
Scientific and Medical Advisory Board Members
Dr Ron Shnier and Dr Michael Carr, both of whom are eminent radiologists are members of the Scientific and Medical Advisory Board. Dr Shnier chairs the SMAB.
Fermiscan is represented on the SMAB by Dr Peter French - Science and Innovation Manager, Gary Corino - Chief Scientist USA and Myungae Lee - Beamline Scientist USA.
Gary Corino and Dr Peter French recently published a paper in the International Journal of Cancer in February 2008, entitled "Diagnosis of breast cancer by X-ray diffraction of hair".
Ethics
Fermiscan's clinical trial protocols are approved and monitored by independent human research ethics committees in accordance with the guidelines of the National Health and Medical Research Committee (NHMRC). Fermiscan is committed to ensuring that its studies are in keeping with the Commonwealth of Australia's National Statement on Ethical Conduct Involving Humans.
